About Melanie

I'm all about continuous learning, empowering others, staying active, nurturing a growth mindset, and spending time in nature. My friends see me as passionate, resilient, smart, energetic, creative, and caring. Personality tests label me as a practical, strategic problem solver, leaning on the healthy side of control freak. My superpowers include sparking change, being the calm in the storm, spotting potential even in tough situations, and radiating energy.

My mottos are "Leave things better than you found them," "You won't know until you try," "Create options not closed doors," and "Is this mine to own?"

Challenges gifted to me include navigating divorce and parallel parenting, supporting a child with extra needs, and being laid off two times within a year - twice! But I've also sought and embraced challenges like a startup career, being a woman in engineering, and diving into BMX racing at 40.

Much of my life is focused on my family and while each of my kids is special to me, everyone knows the dog is my favorite. When I prioritize time for myself, I enjoy trail running, cuddling with my pup, being a kid chauffeur, overborrowing library books, laughing at my own jokes, and spending quality time with my chosen family.

About Uphill Coaching

Life is never flat . We tackle mountains to be rewarded with the view. We hike to experience new environments through movement. And sometimes boulders land in our path.

To successfully navigate uphill with strength and endurance, it is important to balance packing essentials and shedding dead weight, knowing when to carry the momentum and when to pause to rest and enjoy the view.

Uphill Coaching will serve as your guide as we design and navigate your journey together.

  • Melanie has helped me hone in on different parts of my life. From family and health, to work - we have developed a deep trust and open communication. This has allowed me to begin making small critical changes that I continue to build on to reach my goals.

    MB, Customer Success Manager

  • Melanie is caring and helpful. She asked thoughtful questions and was sensitive to my needs when I had a hard day or felt uncertain about which area of my life to focus on. She rolled with my constant pivots and helped me see things from another point of view. She's a badass, smart professional who helped me figure out my next move and I strongly recommend her to anyone looking for coaching!

HK, Content Strategist and Product Leader

  • I strongly recommend Melanie as an executive career coach for professionals at the top leadership level. Her strategic insight and tailored guidance empower executives to enhance their leadership skills, navigate complex organizational dynamics, and acheive their professional goals with confidence.

    SA, Chief Transformation Officer

  • Melanie is clear and concise in her communication. Melanie listens, and is always cognizant of her intended audience and expected results. She does not direct - she guides, coaches, and encourages. All of this empowered me to learn, grow, and take a big scary leap in my career.

    SN, Operations Manager

  • Coaching with Melanie has not only allowed me to get some distance from my challenging job search, but it gave me new and insightful perspectives. For example, the treadmill analogy of running in place sparked a productive review of how I was spending my time. Melanie helped me frame my situations with mountaineering and physical activity (the view from the top) and to prepare for others (an uphill climb = get ready for strenuous), helpful and valuable to pace myself some times, and take a victory lap at others.
